Purpose Jobs' is the largest purpose-driven community for startup & tech professionals.

According to Abraham Maslow, humans have five categories of needs: physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization. Because it’s a hierarchy, the next need can’t be fulfilled until the previous one is. This is demonstrated by a triangle, with the final need, self-actualization, at the peak.

What is self-actualization exactly? It’s the feeling of being fulfilled, of living up to our potential, our purpose. Maslow said it’s rarely achieved, but we think it can be done. 


Helping people achieve this feeling has been our mission since day one — finding fulfillment in your career, helping you realize your potential and doing what you’re meant to do. And that’s represented by the triangles in our logo.

We host a variety of in-person and virtual events:

• Happy Hours: these local in-person events are designed to help people connect and grow their community. Causal, fun, and you get a drink on us if you come early enough :) 
• Purpose Jobs Live: these virtual panels feature a variety of speakers and topics ranging from startup culture, top companies to watch, and the latest tech trends like AI. Tune in from anywhere!
• Behind the Scenes: occasionally, we work with a local tech company to host an office happy hour, giving you the opportunity to network with the community while also getting the insider scoop for the specific employer. Plus, who doesn't love to 👀 really cool offices?
• Purpose Summit: a local, in-person event featuring a series of keynotes, panels, and/or roundtables throughout an afternoon and generally followed by a happy hour.

The Purpose Jobs job board is "Powered by Getro". Getro is an automated job board that takes the manual work out of connecting people and companies.

It is designed for organizations like VCs, economic development firms, or companies like Purpose Jobs who seek to support the their network's hiring needs. Getro is a modern, automated job board that keeps itself up-to-date.

For Purpose Jobs, helping elevate our partners' open roles and supporting talent in their job search go hand-in-hand with our employment branding services. 

If you're using the Purpose Jobs job board, you will likely receive automated emails & communication from Getro. 

Companies listed on our job board are hand-picked by our team. We generally look for the following: 

• Startup or tech company 
• Purpose-driven
• Hires in the US or remotely
• Hires knowledge workers, both technical (i.e. software engineer, product, QA) and nontechnical (i.e. HR, finance, marketing, operations)

To gain admin access to manage your company profile on the Purpose Jobs job board, please email hannah@purpose.jobs. 

Once your employment is verified, you will receive an email from the Getro team, the host of our job board. You'll accept your invite, review details, and be able to manage jobs. 

For the majority of employers, your jobs will be automatically extracted from the website on which you post your jobs. This allows us to operate from a main source of truth, automatically post them, and automatically remove them. 

How did we get your job source URL? Our host, Getro, has a team of job source experts that specialize in finding the most accurate source of jobs for any company. If your jobs don't look accurate or appear to be pulling from an incorrect source, alert hannah@purpose.jobs and suggest the correct source. 

Where you post your jobs matters

Most often the most reliable place for job postings is a page on the actual company website. Likely a "Careers" page, a “Work for Us”, or “Join our Team” page.

Some companies may not have a careers page yet and post their jobs on one of the many job posting sites, such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc... We can update your jobs from those sites well. 

Tell hannah@purpose.jobs when you change where you post your jobs. This includes adopting an Application Tracking System or switching to a different one.

How you post your jobs matters

To ensure daily refreshes of job openings, our technology relies on jobs posted according to the job posting industry standards (used by ATS and other job posting platforms). 

Industry-standard job postings recommended HTML structure is available at schema.org/JobPosting, or check out Google's explanation.

If your company is not currently using an ATS, we highly recommend considering one. If your web team manually posts jobs on a web page, make sure they are aware of the standards above. 

If you have no one with HTML coding skills, we recommend you post your jobs directly through the platform, using our job posting feature. That way your jobs stay up-to-date on the job board.

Occasionally, we see companies reuse the same web page URL for different job postings (eg. the same job title, but posted a year or two apart). This practice, while seemingly effective, negatively impacts the job board analytics the network professional relies on to monitor job seekers' traffic, so be sure to give each job its own unique URL.

Once you have admin access to your company on the Purpose Jobs job board, log in to your account.  

Click the "Edit" button in the top right of the first box, "General Information", and update your company profile information. 

Step 1: Visit the Purpose Jobs job board page: https://www.purpose.jobs/discover

Step 2:On the "Search jobs" tab, use the provided filters to set your search criteria




Step 3: Click "Read More" on the right side of the job tile to open the full description

Step 4: Click "Apply" if you'd like to move forward with an application. This will open the job on the company's careers page where you can submit an application

Step 1: Visit the Purpose Jobs job board page: https://www.purpose.jobs/discover

Step 2: Apply your desired search filters

Step 3: Click the "Create Job Alert" button to the right of the search filters

Step 4: Enter in your email address

Step 5: Receive weekly alerts

Note: Currently, you can only set up once job alert at a time

Your old Purpose Jobs account will be / was permanently closed in September 2023. 

We made the decision to replace that job board with our new, purpose-driven job board. 

This new job board: 

• Automates job posts (& removal), increasing the volume of jobs and time needed to manually post jobs
• Helps job seekers narrow their search with purpose-driven filters, including values, benefits, impact areas, and DEI
• Has no required talent profile
• Asks talent to apply on the careers page, eliminating the need for a recruiter to log in to another site
