Latitude AI (lat.ai) is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale. We’re driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it’s like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you’ll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

Meet the team:

The Simulation Engineering Team plays a vital role in developing and delivering Latitude’s automated driving products. The simulation team develops efficient, modular and scalable software to simulate the large parameter space of interactions and behaviors seen by the system.

This internship will be 12 weeks in length.

What you’ll do:

Prototype a new infrastructure for smart actors that allows for hooking in prototype ML models to run under the simulation’s time step model. Work would involve a cross team effort with autonomy devs and ML training infrastructure teams.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field. Must be enrolled in a full time degree program at the time of the internship and for the semester following the internship (Fall 2024)
  • Strong C++ Coding skills for real time applications.
  • Strong problem solving skills and algorithm design experience.
  • Strong linear algebra background in robotics context
  • Experience in vehicle dynamics and control

Nice to have:

  • Experience with simulations used for test and validation of software
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure
