We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: tech companies are still hiring!
I know it doesn’t seem like it, but it’s true.
If you’re someone who’s been recently laid off, I know it sucks. It’s a scary, frustrating and sometimes sad time. But there’s hope.
According to Crunchbase data, there is still a labor shortage of tech workers. Companies need tech workers faster than colleges can make them. Crunchbase estimates that “for every person who has been laid off so far in 2022, there are around eight available postings — more if people who were laid off earlier in the year have already found new employment.”
As companies prepare for an economic downturn, one of the first things to cut back on is ad spending. Companies that heavily rely on advertising for their revenue (Meta, Alphabet, and Twitter — though we won’t get into the whole mess that Twitter is right now), are struggling more. The companies that don’t rely on ad spend, are doing OK relatively.
Our pal Adam Schoenfeld at PeerSignal.org found that tech companies with 5 to 5K employees grew ~12% between April and October of this year. Big tech companies are lagging behind as B2B tech companies still add headcount more than it subtracts.
All this to say that yes, layoffs are accelerating. And yes, companies are still growing. And yes, tech jobs are still out there.
Here are some of those companies still hiring and looking for top talent to join their teams. And by the way, they're also some of the best places to work. Check them out below.
