The Inside Scoop on the First-Ever Ohio Tech Summit

The Inside Scoop on the First-Ever Ohio Tech Summit

A new event is building on Ohio’s recent wins—like Intel’s multibillion-dollar investment—as a hub of tech and innovation.

The inaugural Ohio Tech Summit, co-produced by OhioX and John Carroll University, will take place April 23 on the campus of JCU. It’s a full day of content and experiences including high-profile speakers, tech demos, and networking opportunities. Speakers include corporate executives, entrepreneurs, education and civic leaders, and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb.

Chris Berry“The Ohio Tech Summit is coming at a perfect time. There's so much excitement and momentum for tech in Ohio," said OhioX President and CEO Chris Berry. "Ohio-based startups are raising more venture capital than ever and major projects like Intel's decision to come to Ohio are putting Ohio on the map in ways like never before."

The Summit kicks off at 9:15 am with opening speakers and culminates in tech demos and a happy hour Tech Expo starting at 3:30 pm, where companies can showcase their products (physical and digital) and Summit attendees can experience and view leading innovations.

There will be keynotes, fireside chats, conversations, and “innovation sprints” where leading tech and innovation pros share their work and predictions for the future.

Ticket sales have ended, but there is a waitlist and additional information available here.

Berry tells us the expo will have a Happy Hour where attendees will “get up out of their seats, walk around and experience the technologies/innovations.”

Here's a list of companies that will be demoing:

“Ohio is on the cutting edge in so many ways," said Scott Allen, Ph.D., Standard Products—Dr. James S. Reid Chair in Management at the John Carroll University Boler College of Business. "We hope participants arrive with a sense of curiosity and leave with a great deal of pride."

Last fall, OhioX, a statewide tech nonprofit working to build Ohio into a tech hub, hosted the inaugural Ohio Tech Day on September 24. Designed to inspire Ohio’s high school students, the event raised awareness for the role tech and innovation play in Ohio’s economy.
