2024 Year in Review

2024 Year in Review

Last year was turbulent in tech, with layoffs and uncertainty surrounding the industry. While many (unfortunately) felt the impact, 2024 wasn’t a total wash. We saw AI become mainstream, and cybersecurity become even more important.

At Purpose Jobs, 2024 was a big year. We launched Purpose Studios, our full-service content studio. We started The Culture Show, where we chat with great people at great companies. Oh, and we ended the year in a big way by being acquired by The Muse.

So, it’s safe to say that last year was a transformative one for Purpose Jobs. Thank you for coming on this journey with us. Here’s a peek at what we got up to last year.

Never Miss An Opportunity

New Partnerships

We welcomed 26 new partners in 2024 across Purpose Jobs and Purpose Studios and a number of new governments and local agencies. Here are just a few of them:

Purpose Studios

We believe in creating great content, that’s why we launched our full-service content studio. Interest in this offering really ramped up last fall. Since then, we’ve been churning out content for our clients, nailing their brand’s voice and helping them create quality content for their channels. Here are a few examples:

  • ProcessBolt: An AI-assisted vendor risk management and real-time threat monitoring platform that aims to streamline and enhance the vendor risk assessment process. We created content on the best type of assessment for third-party vendor risk management and the true cost of a security breach
  • Optify: An all-in-one coaching software and network of high-quality coaches that has transformed the way coaching is delivered in organizations across the globe. Together, we’ve published product summaries, monthly newsletters, case studies, blog posts, and social posts

Much-Anticipated Awards

Each year, we award companies across the Midwest with great work-life balance and amazing company cultures. We also keep a pulse on the best places to work, top startups to watch, and more.

In 2024, we highlighted 126 tech companies to watch, 26 women in tech to know, 30 of the best economic development organizations in emerging tech hubs, and crowned 25 individuals as the best people leaders

More Events

Our happy hours were back in full swing this year. We hosted 14 happy hours and two panels with more than 1,700 attendees and 14 partners.

Ten Startup Detroit Happy Hours, co-hosted by Detroit Venture Partners, were held throughout the year. Our July event was hosted and sponsored by Newlab and we had the biggest turnout at their rooftop venue at Michigan Central with 238 attendees!

We held four Startup Columbus Happy Hours, co-hosted by OhioX, with more than 550 total attendees.

We can’t wait to bring these events back in 2025. The Startup Detroit Happy Hours will move to a quarterly cadence, allowing us to make these events bigger and better.

A Lot of Jobs

Our job board hosted more than 70,000 jobs this year with 121,000 clicks. While the job market in 2024 was slow at times, it’s our goal to help people find meaningful work at companies with a purpose.

Looking for a job now? There are more than 4,500 open roles across 482 companies.

As we start to think about 2025, we’re excited to continue building our community of purpose-driven professionals and awarding companies that are doing great things. Stay tuned for our list of the Best Places to Work in 2025 at the end of January!

And with Purpose Jobs joining forces with The Muse, our clients can now gain unparalleled exposure through The Muse and Fairygodboss. We’ve just started to scratch the surface of what being a part of The Muse’s ecosystem will bring, but we’re certain that this partnership will only amplify our client’s reach to a broader, more diverse audience, showcasing opportunities to purpose-driven candidates nationwide.

Thank you to everyone who made 2024 a success. Whether you’re a client, attended an event, read our blog or newsletter, participated in our Slack community, or any combination of these, we appreciate your support! We can’t wait for what 2025 holds.
